Awesome Sunset in Papua New Guinea

This was a glorious and memorable sunset, taken from Kagi Village at about 1400 meters altitude on the south west slopes of the Owen Stanley Ranges on Day Six of a nine day trek. Walking the Track (or Trail) has increasingly become a goal of Australians who in doing so, pay tribute to the men who gave their lives in the defence of Australia (the “diggers”) during WW2, especially in turning back the Japanese invasion of PNG. Importantly they also recognise with gratitude and affection the “Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels” – local PNG tribesmen who gave so much to support the diggers in their work.
