This is a picture I took the morning of 12-3-17 at 6:30 AM of the Super Moon over Lake Chatuautqua located in Bemus Point, NY. I was walking my dog in the village by the when I saw this image. Tom’s Point (the black area between the moon and the reflection off the water) is in the back on the horizon. Tom’s Point is part of the Chautauqua Lake State Fish and Wildlife Management Area. Tom’s Point, named for early settler Thomas Bemus, who ran the Bemus Point – Stow ferry 200 years ago, has a trail that leads out along the peninsula. The point is a glacial recessional moraine formed as Chautauqua Lake came into existence 15,000 years ago. (source of information for Tom’s Point, Grow WNY, WNY Environmental Alliance website)
