Flooding in Australia

Floodwater in swale at Bushland Beach north of Townsville Queensland 3 Feb 2019. Higher than the 200 year flood line of ’98, but this has happened before and will happen again.

Bald Eagle Taking a Rest

Picture taken January 2nd during the Eagle migration from Canada through Garden City, Utah (Bear Lake area). It was a cold overcast day, temperature around 29 degrees. The American Bald Eagle was perched on a tree just outside our home. We kept our cat inside for the rest of the day.

Sunrise Shadow on the Clouds

Here’s a picture I snapped off our front porch. It shows the shadow cast by the rising Sun on Mt. Jefferson, in the Oregon Cascades on low clouds. Ca. 2015.

The weather to the east of the Cascades is usually clearer than the Willamette Valley where I live. This particular morning, the rising sun created a beautiful red cast on the clouds in the valley. I was delighted by the shadow. This spectacle only lasted about a minute before the angle of the Sun was no longer able to shine under the clouds.
